What is Neuromuscular Massage Therapy?

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT) focuses on the treatment of trigger points.

You can usually feel trigger points in tight bands of muscle. You feel the pain because there is increased tension which makes the muscle rigid which can result in a lack of range of motion and even entrapped nerves – ouch!

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT) uses sustained static pressure on a specific area for several seconds or even up to a few minutes to access the muscle fibers and release them.

How is Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is performed?

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is performed with your clothes on. No need for oil or lotion so it is wonderful for those who have sensitivities and, or allergies.

Many of our clients who experience recurring cycles of pain have found NMT especially helpful at resolving injuries and increasing their sports performance.

NMT is not a Swedish massage. There are no long flowing strokes and no kneading.

Often, we recommend that NMT be used together with NeuroKinetic Therapy. Dysfunctional muscle movements are stored in the brain, NeuroKinetic Therapy is a protocol that helps our therapists to zero in on and identify the trigger areas in the body that are causing pain and address them

Why is Neuromuscular Massage Therapy right for me?

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is wonderful for improving posture, facilitating healing, releasing entrapped nerves, softening the fascia surrounding muscles, and decreasing pressure on your joints.

If you are experiencing chronic pain NMT is a great way to work towards releasing tight muscles so that they can begin to heal.
